How to Make Y-Boards

1.  Buy 1 sheet of 3/4 inch plywood, pressure treated.

2.  Cut it down the middle, so you have two 2 foot wide pieces, 8 foot long.

3.  Cut the 8'x2' piece into five pieces, 19"x24", 19"x24", 19"x24", 19"x24" and the last piece 20"x24";  Do the same with the other 8'x2' piece of plywood.  When your done you have 10 pieces of 24 inch long wood, 8 pieces are 19" wide and the other two are 20" wide.

4.  Using 1.5" drywall screws, place once piece of plywood on top of the other and drill about 10 screws in on each side.  You want enough screws in the wood so that it doesn't creak or come loose when you jam it in a Y of a tree.   Place 4 screws on the outside edges on each side and two in the middle. You now have four 19"x24x1.5"  pieces of plywood, you have one 20"x24"x1.5

5.  Now using a 7.25 circular saw, cut Vs in the end of each piece of plywood, the 19" end is where you want the V's..  The V should be about 5 inches from each edge of the board, cut in in only 3 inches deep.  See figure below.

6.  Drill a 1/4 inch hole on each side of the V, so that you can toe nail a 3" deck screw into the tree, or toe nail a 20 penny nail into the tree.  Use the screws, since it is easier to remove if you have to.

7.  A completed Y-board looks like this, note the Y-board is 24" long by 19" wide with screw and holding the TWO pieces of plywood together.

Very, very strong will hold at least 1000 lbs safely, just in case you a big guy.
